Diamond Hill slot game review

General Info

Diamond Hill is a slot game from Tom Horn, a software development company based in Valletta, Malta. As yet, the company focuses purely on slot games for casinos and has a license from the UK Gambling Commission.
In 2018 the company were nominated as finalists for the iGaming Software Supplier and Slot Provider award at the International Gaming Awards, showing that Tom Horn have certainly proved their worth in the industry.

Sound and visuals

“In a faraway kingdom, in its ancient woodlands, magic surrounds Diamond Hill.” Diamond Hill is a decent looking game, with bright visuals and an enticing cool blue and purple woodland backdrop. It doesn’t feature the vivid, in-your-face rainbow colours that some slot games do, but this will make it more popular with players looking for a game to sit back and unwind with.

Gameplay

Diamond Hill looks a little different to traditional slot games, owing to its diamond-shaped grid. It features five reels of varying sizes, and doesn’t use traditional paylines; instead, players win by matching three or more symbols across adjacent reels. This adds a novel feel to the gameplay and appeals to players who get bored by more traditional designs.

Key features

By far the biggest selling point of Diamond Hill is the wild multiplier. When wild symbols appear on the 1st and 5th reels, they change to random multipliers after the reel stops for anything between 1x and 9x. Every time you win on a line featuring a wild multiplier, the payout is multiplied by the amount displayed, which can add up to some pretty impressive wins.

Diamond Hill also features a handy respin feature which can be triggered by combos which feature a wild symbol. This feature means that, after the win is paid out, the winning symbols lock in place while the non-winning symbols are replaced. This continues until a new winning combination lines up – meaning a win with a wild symbol can really pay out big in Diamond Hill. We like this little feature a lot, as it really cranks up the stakes when hitting combos.

Chances of winning

Diamond Hill is a high variance slot game which offers a pretty standard return to player of 96%, a commonly seen stat found on many slot games. Despite a lack of paylines, it’s not too hard to achieve a row of three matching symbols, so players shouldn’t have to go too long in Diamond Hill without winning back some cash. The wild multipliers also mean that stakes are high in this game.

CasinoNZ Verdict

Diamond Hill is an interesting and slightly quirky slots game which departs from traditional game design to offer something totally new. It’s quite a relaxing game, with a scenic setting and relatively low key gameplay, so it may not be the favourite game of adrenaline junkies. That being said, Diamond Hill will likely score points with players looking for something a little different.
