The Santa Paws slot game was created by the wonderful team at Microgaming. This machine was introduced to the market back in December 2006 so it is very much one of their older creations.
Given how long it has been around for, the graphics are very basic as you would expect and the sounds are a little on the dim side. Despite its age, Santa Paws can be played on all desktop, mobile and tablet devices.
Gameplay
As the title of the game suggests there is a strong Christmas flavour to this slot game. Christmas is mixed with animals for a fun slot game which carries low variance but still contains plenty of entertainment throughout. Santa Paws has five reels and 20 paylines in total.
Santa Paws offers up regular playing cards – 10, J, Q, K and A as the lower paying icons with the higher paying ones including a wolf, an owl, a rabbit and a seal all with Christmas designed attire. In keeping with the theme, The Wild is Rudolf the whale and Santa Paws polar bear while the penguin is the Scatter icon.
Bonus Feature
There are three different bonuses and features to the Santa Paws slot game. The first of those is the Free Spins one. The penguin is the important icon here and if you land three, four or five of it anywhere across the reels you will be gifted 12 free spins. Unfortunately there is not a multiplier attached to these but should you get more Scatter icons to land during the spins you can retrigger the feature.
The second bonus offering in this game comes in the form of the two Wilds that are available. That is quite rare as is the fact that they are on offer in the base game and the free spins. Clearly an extra wild increases your hopes of winning!
The final bonus is a typical Microgaming feature which is the Gamble feature. You have the opportunity to either double any win or quadruple it by guessing what the next card will be. You double your win if you guess the colour right or quadruple it by picking the right suit. If you choose wrong you lose all of that win, so it is a risk and reward decision.

The RTP rating for the Santa Paws slot game is down at 96.52% which is comfortably above the average for a slot game, particularly an older one like this, and very much to the benefit of the player.

Santa Paws is a pretty basic game but you would expect that given how long it has been around for. That doesn’t make it a bad game by any means. If you are looking for something that is fun with a Christmassy feel to it then Santa Paws is likely to be right up your street. With some good features and an enjoyable interface and gameplay, this Microgaming creation is well worth a go.
