Thunderscreech Slot Review

This North American based slot by Play’n Go utilises a number of potential setting ideas from this part of the world from local wildlife like the beaver to Native American totems. The name itself comes from an experimental aircraft in the 1950’s that due to a problem with the propeller rotating so fast produced a constant sonic boom.

Players can hope for a boom in cash here and with randomly activated features this is not impossible.

Background

To the very rear of the background sits a looming mountain range, potentially The Rockies beneath a clear, blue sky with wispy clouds. Closer to the reels players can enjoy a colourful spectacle of tall ferns and golden foliage, potentially Beech or Aspen behind a grassy opening in which the grid is situated. The playtable itself consist of 3-rows and 5-reels held up by a traditional wooden structure decorated with carved eagles and feathers tied with rope on either side. Above the reels the game title is decorated similarly to the grid and below it the stake options, spin and autospin buttons and the ‘information’ menu.

Symbols players can use on the grid include the lower value 10 – A cards made up by differently coloured wooden designs that play on the native American setting. The higher paying symbols consist of skunks, foxes, otters, beavers and crows that is a strange yet refreshing choice compared to the usual eagles, buffalo and horses normally used. There is also a bird totem Wild symbol and dreamcatcher Scatter in play here that activate bonus features.

Bonuses

As expected the Wild symbol can substitute for any other symbol apart from the Scatter to complete winning paylines, between 5 and 9 Wild symbols can be added at random by the Call feature. To really get the most from the Wild symbols players should hop for the Strike feature, also activated at random. During the Strike feature Wilds are upgraded to Thunder Wilds, these are sticky and reward respins which can be reactivated by another Wild feature added to the grid. The Thunder Wilds also hold multipliers that increase from 1x to 2x and 3x with each respin, if more than one Thunder Wild makes a combination their multipliers are added together to a potential 9x.

The free spins round is activated by the dreamcatcher Scatters on the 1sr, 3rd and 5th reel providing 5 free spins. During this round a minimum of 1 Thunder Wild is guaranteed on each spin, this subsequently triggers the Strike feature adding multipliers to the round. Unfortunately, the free spins cannot be retriggered as Scatter symbol do not land during the bonus rounds.

CasinoNZ Verdict

The visual features may be rather simple here however they are pleasant none the less, gameplay itself has been kept simple also with an uninspired 10 paylines to use. However, the simplicity of this slot is part of what makes it so good, the bonus rounds provide excitement and a potential 5,000x the stake to play for rewards can be great as well.

There are Play’n Go slots and much more available from our slots page including Book of Dead and Moon Princess.
