Solar Wilds Game Review

Shoot off into space in this back-to-basics Microgaming release that offers an exciting 1,000x the stake maximum payout. As the name suggests Wild symbols are the key to accessing the high payouts from an otherwise simple 5-reels, 3-rows game with 10 fixed paylines.

Let’s take a look at the game mechanics available in this etherical slot release.

Background

A mesmerizing, deep space setting makes up the backdrop of this slot as a pitch-black base littered with stars fills the centre of the screen. Either side of the screen is illuminated by green and blue solar clouds that gives this game a National Geographic documentary feel to play. There is no backing to the reels here, so the well-designed backdrop is visual across the screen, the symbols are designed in bright colours to stand out against this imagery. To the left of the grid is the spin, auto-spin, betting options and game settings that players can interact with, they are presented in plain white that is visible against the colourful background.

The symbols included in this slot are made up of different coloured and shaped interstellar orbs that appear to be hurtling through space, some are orbited by rings or moons whilst one has a fiery tail. The lower value of these symbols consists of a blue, purple, turquoise, green and pink orb which can payout form between 3 and 5 landing across the paylines. The higher value symbols that players can hope to land are a bright red and golden orb, these can pay out between 5x and 50x the stake for landing between 3 and 5 simultaneously. The titular Wild symbols are glowing, orange orbs situated inside a bright hexagon that emits a blue glow.

Bonuses

Fans of bonus rounds might be disappointed with the lack there of in Solar Wilds, the only bonus feature to play here revolves around the Wild symbols which land on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reel. These Wilds symbols still substitute for others to complete winning combinations across paylines, but when they land, they automatically trigger the Wild Respin feature.

To begin this expands the Wild to cover the entire reel, players are then rewarded a free spin with the Wild in place that could potentially see another Wild drop. If this happens then the Wild also expands and the player gets a second spin which pays out for any combinations made. If this second spin lands a 3rd and final Wild symbol players can spin 1 last time with 2 expanded Wilds in place. There are bonus payouts available on this spin from which the maximum payout is available.
