Miner Donkey Trouble Game Review

We don’t know whether this is the donkey of a miner or a donkey that mines, but he carries a 10,000x the stake maximum win in this Play’n Go slot and that’s all that matters.

With an uncommon game mechanic that pays from clusters of symbols in any direction and subsequently activates the Donkey Destruction feature that involves cascading symbols.

The obscure 5-reel, 7-row play grid is set in the middle of an old-fashioned style miche shaft with wooden support beams leading off into the distance. The animated characters of the donkey and the old miner stand either side of the reels looking directly at the player as the slot is spun. Above either of these are the multipliers at play and other bonus feature indicators with the slot title in the top-right hand corner. Across the bottom of the screen are the play button you will use, the spin, auto spin betting stakes and information menu are positioned on an old wooden board.

The main game symbols at play here are designed as precious looking stones and gems of various size and colour. The lower value Rocks can pay between 5x and 10x the stake if players land 18 or more in a cluster, the green and yellow stones pay out more than the brown and blue ones. The Gems offer increasingly better returns from a maximum 20x the stake for a cluster of purple gems to 250x the stake for the most lucrative red gems. Players will also find gold nuggets and pickaxes in player which provide Wild features to the slot.

The opportunity of striking gold in this mining slot game is boosted by bonus features from cascading reels to a free spin bonus round. Winning clusters not only utilise the cascading reel, but they add to a meter which is used to unlock the Donkey Destruction feature of which 3 stages are available. The first stage is activated by collecting 18 symbols, this removes all rock symbols from the gird leaving only high paying possibilities to play with. The next stage to Donkey Destruction is available after 40 symbols have been collected and removes all main game symbols from the grid. The final stage activates after 50 symbols are collected, this removes all symbols except for gold nuggets and even adds 5 gold nuggets to the grid.

Mega symbols can be added to the reel randomly at any time, they come in 2×2, 3×3 or 4×4, these can be any high or low value symbol or even Wilds. If a dynamite Scatter lands it will explode destroying all surrounding stone and gem symbols added 2 diamond Wilds instead. The Free Spins feature is activated when 3 dynamite Scatters land simultaneously, it rewards 5 Free Spins with all multipliers activated remaining throughout the spins. Players can gain up to 20 Free Spins is Scatter keep dropping with all of the aforementioned features available throughout these spins.

CasinoNZ Verdict

The bonus features available here are in abundance, they can also be quite rewarding if players are lucky. The visual features including explosions and the two characters are pleasant and make gameplay enjoyable.
