Halloween Horrors Game Review

Scary pokies are most closely associated with Halloween, but to be fair we’re up for a good fright all year round! There’s a lot of competition for attention in the Halloween market and your slot has to be really good to make any impact, so where does Halloween Horrors by 1×2 Gaming fall in the league table of spooky classics? Will you brave the haunted house, or will you be sent screaming into the night? Let’s find out in our Halloween Horrors slot game review.

Background

We won’t beat around the bush, Halloween Horrors isn’t the most beautiful pokie we’ve ever seen, and while the symbols are nice and thematic they’re pretty crudely drawn in comparison with other modern slots. The background is a very spooky scene of a gnarled tree with a grave underneath, while a creepy green sky fog by a full moon hangs in the air. While the low value symbols are the standard 9 – A, the higher value symbols are an atmospheric collection of grinning ghosts, grizzly zombies, feral bats and black cats. Spooky music plays in the background while animated bats and witches fly in silhouette behind the reels, while lightning strikes the winning symbols as you play. There’s even an amusing little commentary at the bottom of the screen as you play, keeping you informed on the latest ghoulish goings on in the graveyard!

While the visuals in this slot might be scary, the game play is actually pretty traditional, with three rows and five reels, and 25 pay lines to play on. The big news in this slot is the monster betting limit, which sits up at a massive £/€/$750! A great way to capitalize on your wins is by betting nice and high, and with the top paying witches’ hat symbol paying as much as 750x your stake you can expect sky high wins if you go anywhere near the top bet! On top of this there is also a pumpkin wild symbol, which plays the standard part of substituting for other symbols.

Bonuses

The bonus round in the Halloween Horrors slot game is also fairly traditional, with just a free spins game to help you make the most of your budget. As usual the number of scatters you land will determine how many spins you get, with five awarded for three skulls and 15 awarded for five skulls. On top of the normal symbols in this game you also get an extra scatter represented by a tombstone, which pays out regardless of whether it lands in a row or not, and awards a payout of 200x your stake when five land.

CasinoNZ Verdict

For a game that’s about a shocking series of events, there’s not much that’s surprising in Halloween Horrors. It’s pretty traditional as pokies go, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some amazing prizes to be won, with a really big betting limit allowing players to take advantage of some already generous prizes. A fun and frantic bonus game is just the icing on the cake!
