Cashzuma and the Tomb of Wonga Slot Review

This game doesn’t have a name that trips off the tongue, but at least it’s memorable. You might have detected a certain Mesoamerican theme from it, and you’d be exactly right, because Cashzuma and the Tomb of Wonga is set among the dense jungles and ruined temples of Central America, where you’re on the hunt for some lost gold.

The developers, Core Gaming, produce a large range of simple but fun games with a variety of themes, but as they’re owned by British gaming giants Sky Betting they have some serious cash for prizes to back them up. So is Cashzuma an adventure of a lifetime or will you be lost in the trees? Let’s find out.

Game background

To start with, Cashzuma presents you with a perfectly well done Mayan looking theme, complete with well-drawn jungle scene, a mysterious temple on the horizon and suitably overgrown menus and buttons. Disappointingly the lower value symbols are represented by the card numbers 9 to Ace, though these are re-created in a well designed Maya themed style, but it would have been nice to see something more original.

The higher value symbols, however, are blue, green and red jewels, and Cashzuma himself. What this game does really well are the animations, which happen constantly throughout the game. Whether it’s the whole set of reels swaying slightly as you play, the birds of prey flying over the jungle in the background, or the charming animation of little Cashzuma running around during the bonuses, it all adds to the immersion and the fun.

Alongside these winning symbols, you’ll also find a standard wild and scatter to help win you more prizes: The wild is a silver shield with Wild written across it, while the scatter is the word Bonus carved in decorated stone. As usual, the wild can replace any symbol and helps you to complete combos when it appears. This game has 4096 ways to win, and you can get a prize just by having matching symbols in adjacent rows, which makes wins come thick and fast.

Combined with the cascading reels feature, in which new symbols fall to replace the winning combos that are removed, and it can be an exhilarating experience. This makes up for the somewhat low stakes betting, which ranges from a low of 0.20 credits to a maximum of 10. All in all, this adds up to an RTP of 96% exactly.

Feature bonuses

Land three or more bonus symbols and a short animation will take you into the throne room of the temple, allowing you to choose between two mini games: Multiplying Spirits and the Lunar Wild Eclipse. The first gives you 20 free spins, with a multiplier that increases by 1x with every successful combo, while the second gives you 24 free spins and a special wild that can greatly increase your winnings if you manage to land it. As well as this, landing two bonus symbols in either of these games nets you another 15 spins.

CasinoNZ Verdict

This is a good looking game that manages to bring plenty of excitement to the table, even if the betting isn’t all that high. The fun gaming aspects of the experience more than make up for the low stakes, and you can actually find yourself with a decent prize pot if the spins are in your favour.
