Big Top Slot Game Review

General Info

The Big Top slot game was devised by the excellent team of people at Microgaming. It was released to the market on the first day of 2010, so it is one which has stood the test of time.

There is a typical older Microgaming slot look about this game in that the reels fill the screen and while the colours are sharp and bright, a background is never a bad thing. The sounds to this game are engaging and catchy though. Big Top can be played across all desktop, mobile and tablet devices.

As the name of the slot game would suggest, there is very much a circus vibe about this game. The theme is all about a night at the circus where we run into plenty of circus characters on the reels as we chase the riches we desire. Big Top comes with five reels and nine paylines.

There is a mix between the traditional and the themed in terms of the icons in this Big Top game. The lower paying icons are the regular playing cards – 10, J, Q, K and A while the better paying ones include the performing lion, the clown, an elephant and a seal. The nutty clown is the Wild icon in this game while it is the monkey which acts as the Scatter icon.

Bonus Feature

This is another one of those Microgaming slot games where there isn’t a bonus feature or free spins or anything like that, which is disappointing because the theme and format really lends itself to something like that.

All we are left with are the Wilds and Scatters, which hit the reels fairly regularly and can be generous in reward when they do, but even then you are left feeling a little short changed when you compare it to other games.

The RTP rating for the Big Top slot game comes in at 96.94%. This is very healthy for a slot game and one which is comfortably above the average.

CasinoNZ Verdict

In terms of the theme and the quality of the colours on the reels and things like that, Big Top is actually a decent game but it lets itself down in other areas, not least in the lack of features which is always a turn off in the modern world. Unlike some of the older Microgaming slots, this one does at least have Wilds and Scatters to boost winnings and increase the chances of wins coming along. Payouts do come more often here than they do in many other slot games which is very much a positive too but we still can’t get away from the simple, almost classic or traditional gameplay that this slot carries. If you are someone who likes a simple slot or wants an easy slot to try so that you get used to how they work then this one might well be for you, however the more experienced slot gamers are better served looking elsewhere.
