Ariana Slot Game Review

The Ariana slot game was devised by the fantastic, expert team at Microgaming. This slot was released to the market back in May 2015, and is one of their more underrated titles on the landscape

When you load up the game you are met with the strong underwater graphics and reels and a machine which is very easy to work. Ariana is a game that can be played across all desktop, mobile and tablet devices.

Microgaming takes us deep into the ocean for this mermaid-themed slot game where we follow what the creators describe as the ‘heroine of the high seas’. This is a pretty popular theme with plenty of games of this kind but there is a real likeness to Ariana. Ariana has five reels which has 25 paylines in all.

The lower paying icons are what we normally see in Ariana. They are the regular playing cards which here are 10, J, Q, K and A while the higher paying icons are Ariana, a treasure chase, a view of the sea bed and some seaweed. The Wild icon is the Ariana game logo while the Scatter icon is the starfish.

Bonus Feature

There are two bonuses in Ariana. The first one is the Stacked Symbols which appear on reel one. If you land one of these then each other symbol of that kind across the reels will expand completely which can deliver some tidy wins should you pick up the right icons at the right times.

There is also a Free Spins game which is launched when you see three, four or five of the starfish scattered anywhere across the reels. You land 15 fishy free spins when this takes place. The stacked icons on reel one remain active in the free spins while Wilds on reels two to four will also expand. This is there to build better wins and replaces the absence of any multipliers. The feature doesn’t sound a lot but actually, you can land some excellent wins on it.

The RTP rating for the Ariana slot game lands at 95.48%, which is well below the average for a slot game of this kind, and very much against the player.

CasinoNZ Verdict

In some ways Microgaming deserves some credit for their Ariana creation because there are a lot of underwater, mermaid-themed slot games on the landscape and getting it to stand out was never going to be easy. There are positives and negatives to the game. The negatives would be in the basic element of the main feature. We would have liked to see a multiplier or easy retriggering of that feature but none was forthcoming, while the theme has done the rounds. On the plus side there is only a medium variance to the game but you can still land some nice wins. Ariana has excellent graphics with the underwater backdrop complimenting the reels nicely, while the sounds are smooth too. You probably won’t be blown away by this game but there is enough to like about it.
